Diesel BMW 7-series Coming to U.S. Next Year (Plus, How We Almost Got the M550d)

2013 BMW 7-Series

BMW has just announced a raft of changes to the 2013 7-series as part of its mid-cycle refresh, but an additional—and significant—update is due to hit our shores in about a year: The company will offer its range-topping sedan with a 3.0-liter diesel inline-six. The car will be badged as either the 735d or 740d, although output isn't yet clear. The X5 xDrive35d's 3.0-liter diesel delivers 265 hp and 425 lb-ft of torque, but a high-output version of this engine offered in Europe is good for 308 hp and 465 lb-ft. Read full story »
