As auto sales continue to rise, so too does the number of car dealerships and salespeople working at them, according to The Detroit News. In the first three months of 2012, 66 auto dealerships opened and 146,500 more jobs were added to the new- and used-car dealer workforce, according to the Detroit paper. There are now 1.08 million people working at car dealerships, up from 933,500 last year.

In other news:

  • The maxed-out 2013 GMC Terrain Denali has been priced at $35,350 and $37,100 for front- or all-wheel drive, respectively, according to the automaker. The new 3.6-liter V-6 costs an extra $1,500. 
  • GM, Toyota and Honda confirmed that they plan to integrate Apple's proprietary Siri software into their future vehicles, according to Automotive News. GM also added that its MyLink system, coming to the 2013 Chevrolet Spark, is already compatible with Siri, the trade paper reports. 
  • Mexico's automotive output has hit record highs so far this year, according to Bloomberg News. The country has produced 1.15 million vehicles since May with more than 80% of those being exported to other countries, including the U.S. Some of the top Mexican-made models imported here include the Ford Fusion, Volkswagen Jetta and Dodge Journey, says the Wall Street Journal.
