Car Seat Alerts Parents Via Smartphone

Parents have a new ally when it comes to ensuring their children's safety in a vehicle. A new child-safety seat with a built-in monitoring system will send warnings if it detects certain life-threating situations. 

The First Years IAlert convertible car seat from Tomy works with a smartphone app to send messages if it detects misuse in following ways:

  • An improper angle in the rear-facing position
  • The seat becomes unbuckled while the vehicle is moving
  • The child is left in the car seat when the vehicle is not moving
  • The child is at risk due to elevated or freezing ambient temperature in the car seat

The seat, which goes on sale this fall, is rated for use from five to 65 pounds. Watch the video below.
