Base 2013 Chevrolet Malibu Priced at $23,150

The 2013 Chevrolet Malibu Eco has been on sale for a while now, with a starting price of $25,995. Today, the rest of the 2013 Malibu lineup was priced, with a base 2013 Malibu LS starting at $23,150, including a $760 destination fee. That puts the Malibu toward the higher end of midsize sedans in terms of base pricing. The 2012 Toyota Camry ($22,815), 2013 Nissan Altima ($22,280), 2012 Volkswagen Passat ($20,765) and 2013 Hyundai Sonata ($21,670) can all be had for less and with essentially the same features. When you compare the price to a 2012 Malibu, the price change is more subtle — just $280 more. All Malibus except for the Eco trim are powered by a 197-horsepower, 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine, which is new to the GM family. Fuel economy hasn't been announced yet, but the automaker has said that gas mileage on the highway should hit the mid-30s. The Malibu is available in 1LS, 1LT, 2LT and LTZ trims with the 2.5-liter. A more powerful 259-hp, turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder will be available on the 3LT ($27,710) and 2LTZ trims ($30,925). GM didn't break down what the turbo trims offer besides the stronger engine. The Malibu turbo will go on sale later this fall. All other trims are available now. The base LS trim comes well equipped with Bluetooth, steering-wheel-mounted audio and cruise controls, aluminum wheels and 10 airbags. LT and LTZ trims add a 7-inch touch-screen with Chevy's MyLink multimedia system, which includes a standard USB port in the center console and Bluetooth streaming audio. The LT and LTZ trims also come with larger aluminum wheels and carpeted floormats. The LTZ trim also adds automatic climate control, leather upholstery, fog lights, color LCD screen in the instrument cluster and heated side mirrors with integrated turn signals. The LTZ trim comes with a driver-side one-touch up/down power window and heated front seats. All other trims get a driver-side one-touch (down only) power window, which is standard in almost every new car these days. Available safety features in the LTZ trim include lane departure warning, and luxury features include push-button start, a passive entry system and high-intensity-discharge headlights.
