2012 Hyundai Azera Priced at $32,000

When the 2012 Hyundai Azera goes on sale later this year, it will have an easy-to-remember starting price of $32,000, excluding an $875 destination fee. There's only one option package, and it adds $4,000 of tech and luxury features for a range-topping price of $36,000. The Azera sits in an odd place in Hyundai's lineup. The 2012 Hyundai Genesis starts at $34,200, and it packs more power but has fewer luxury features — there'Fs no standard touch-screen or navigation system, for instance. Among its competitors — such as the Ford Taurus ($25,555) and Chrysler 300 ($27,470) – the Azera is more expensive, yet it's more affordable than the Toyota Avalon, which starts at $33,195. Still, that's an unusual position for a Hyundai. Keep in mind that once you option the contenders with the same features, they all cost more than the Azera. The Azera comes well-equipped with the following features:  18-inch alloy wheels  Automatic headlights  Fog lights  Dual exhaust  Heated side mirrors with turn signals  Electronically tinted windshield and glass  Keyless entry and push-button start  10-way power driver's seat; eight-way power passenger seat   Leather upholstery  Front and rear heated seats  Navigation with 7-inch touch display  Bluetooth connectivity  Cruise control  Review-back up camera  Blue Link telematics system The $4,000 Technology Package adds cooled front seats; parking sensors; ambient interior lighting; memory function for the seats, mirrors and steering column; premium stereo; panoramic sunroof; and 19-inch alloy wheels. The Azera's standard 3.3-liter V-6 makes 293 horsepower and 255 pounds-feet of torque. It's mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. Hyundai says the powertrain will achieve 20/29/23 mpg city/highway/combined. Unlike other Hyundai models, which usually have the best fuel economy figures in their class — the Azera's combined figure merely ties with the V-6 300 (23 mpg) and the Avalon (23 mpg) but beats the Taurus (22 mpg). Hyundai has pushed back deliveries of the Azera. It was originally reported to go on sale this month, but Hyundai says the sedan will go on sale in April.
