Is this the new Aston Martin DB11, or merely a special-bodied iteration of today's DB9 or Vanquish? With Aston Martin, it's never easy to tell—and yes, this is a jab at how most of the automaker's different sports-car models all resemble one another. Nevertheless, we think this spy photo, which first appeared on Autojunk.nl, is of the new DB11.

We know from Aston Martin's boss, Andy Palmer, that while the next-generation Vantage will be smaller than the DB11 and pull cues from James Bond 007's ultra-hot DB10 that he drove in the movie Spectre, the DB11 will be larger, more of a GT like the DB cars that came before it. The car in the photo above appears to have a long wheelbase and lane-filling width, not to mention an interesting roof and C-pillar treatment we haven't seen before.

The vanity license plate also nods toward the DB11's new V-12 engine, which will be smaller than Aston's current 5.9-liter twelve and boast two turbochargers. The DB11 also will be the first Aston Martin to ride on the brand's all-new aluminum architecture. We'll know for sure if this is the 11 when the 2016 Geneva auto show rolls around this spring; that's where the real deal is set to debut.
