Hyundai Dropping 4.6-Liter V8 From 2013 Genesis Sedan; 5.0-Liter V8, V6 Remain

Hyundai has announced that when the 2013 Genesis sedan goes on sale later this year, it will offer just two engine choices, since the company is dropping the mid-level 4.6-liter V-8 from the lineup. The base 3.8-liter V-6 and range-topping 5.0-liter V-8 remain, though the 5.0 will be available only on the R-Spec model; last year, buyers could order a regular-grade Genesis with the high-po engine if they didn't want the R-Spec's slightly sportier gear. Besides losing the 4.6-liter V-8, the Genesis sedan gets a new, eight-inch navigation screen option. The minor scope of the changes for 2013 are hardly surprising—after all, the second-generation Genesis sedan is a year or so away and Hyundai just refreshed the model last year. Read full story »
