First 2015 COPO Camaro to Be Auctioned for Charity at Barrett-Jackson Palm Beach

First 2015 COPO Camaro sale will benefit wounded vets
-You know how bidding sometimes gets out of control at Barrett-Jackson. This is one of those times where you root for that to happen.

-

Chevy will build exactly 69 COPO Camaros in 2015, and #001 will cross the block on April 18 at the Barrett-Jackson Palm Beach auction. You likely know the modern COPO story by now, but for those not up to speed, it's a factory drag special with a 350-cubic-inch LSX V-8 supplemented by a 2.9-liter Whipple supercharger. All told, the combo is good for 555 horsepower, which is sent to the live rear axle via a three-speed automatic racing gearbox.

An NHRA-certified roll cage and safety equipment are standard, and the wicked-looking COPOs are good for 8-second quarter-mile runs. It's the GM guy's answer to the equally knuckle-dragging Mustang Cobra Jet.

All proceeds from the sale of serial #2015COPO001 will benefit the Achilles Freedom Team of Wounded Veterans, which helps wounded warriors and other disabled athletes train for, gain access to, and compete in sporting events.
