Volvo S60 V8 Supercars Racer Debuts, Dominates Sydney Harbor Bridge

After debuting the awesome 5.0-liter V-8 engine that will power its Polestar-fettled S60 race car that will compete in the 2014 Australian V8 Supercars series, Volvo has finally revealed what that race car will look like. Not only that, but Volvo brought the car out in style, having driver Kiwi Scott McLaughlin drive it across the Sydney Harbor bridge in Sydney, Australia. It doesn't get much more Australian than that—well, unless the car itself was Australian or it was driven by an Australian, but we digress—and things don't get much cooler than seeing a full-blown race car hit public roads.

As for the S60 itself, well, besides its awesome 650-hp, Yamaha-based V-8 engine, it has received a full racing makeover. We're actually quite pleased by how the S60 looks; unlike the S60 Volvo campaigns in the Swedish Touring Car Championship series on its home turf, the V8 Supercars model looks more or less like a modified street car. And yet, in contrast to the STCC S60, which features wildly pumped-out fenders and aggressive aerodynamic appendages, the V8 Supercars model 230 more horsepower. Söt. You can watch a video of the S60′s run across Sydney's harbor below, and look for the bright blue racer on the V8 Supercars circuit this season.
