If you've been above ground the past few days, you're likely aware of Russia's bungled Winter Olympics opening ceremonies, which saw the failed deployment of all five (mechanized) Olympic rings. While the comedic value of Russia's misfortune was there for all to see—assuming you weren't watching on Russian television—few realized what kind of marketing opportunity had fallen into Audi's lap. We tweeted about the 80-percent-complete Olympic ring display's resemblance to a squished Audi logo with an asterisk a few days ago, but one enterprising Photoshopper took it a step further with the gem you see above.
Indeed, When Four Rings is All You Need would make for one hell of a catchy hook for Audi to hang a jab at BMW—the official vehicle partner of the Olympic games. After all, the brand hasn't had a problem dueling with BMW via advertising in the past. (Simply Google "BMW Audi billboard battle" for an idea of what we're talking about here.)

- First Drive: 2015 Audi S3 Sedan
- First Drive: 2014 BMW M235i Coupe
Based on how the fake ad has exploded on Reddit today after being posted to imgur, we suspect Audi would've enjoyed little more than taking advantage of the social-media buzz. But with the International Olympic Committee's eager legal team and what appears to be a pretty slam-dunk case of copyright infringement, we understand why Audi hasn't jumped on this. We are hopeful, however, that the four-rings brand is working up some kind of clever, Quattro-related response to BMW's bobsled for Team U.S.A.
