Spied! Transformers Bumblebee Camaro Bears Down on GM’s Proving Grounds; No Explosions Visible

Spied! Transformers Bumblebee Camaro Bears Down on GM's Proving Grounds; No Explosions Visible

If Michael Bay's explosion-fetishist Transformers movie franchise proves two things, it is that folks like watching giant robots duke it out and GM cars disappointingly lack transformative powers in real life. These spy photos from GM's proving grounds, on the other hand, prove that GM's product-placement deal with the Transformers producers remains alive and well, and also give us a glimpse at how the ever-popular Bumblebee Chevrolet Camaro/robot, er, transforms as a result of its 2014 refresh. The yellow pony car wears the same slimmed-down taillights as the regular '14 Camaro, but it also gets a unique front-end treatment with narrower headlights, a full-width lower intake, and a prominent hood bulge. It will be interesting to see whether Chevy carries this special light/fascia treatment over to the inevitable Camaro Bumblebee edition—the automaker previously released Transformers-edition Camaros in 2010 and 2012—that we expect to hit the market following the introduction of the Transformers 4 film some time next year.
