"Available Fall 2016."
-Believe it or not, but that was the part of Ford's newest video featuring the upcoming F-150 Raptor off-road-ready high-performance pickup truck that stuck out the most to us. Yes, in between scenes where the Raptor drifted through loose desert sand, jumped over sandy mounds, and generally pounded some sand into submission, a flash of fine print caught our eyes. Why? Because Fall 2016 is not Now 2016—and we're anxious to drive the second-generation Raptor.

While we wait for our turn behind the wheel of the 2017 F-150 Raptor, this video does fill in a few blanks for us. Namely, if not overly enhanced in post-production, the video's aural glimpses of the new Raptor's twin-turbo V-6 engine finally reveal what the 400-plus-horsepower six will sound like. Our preliminary assessment? The engine's warbly, high-octave yowl is intriguing, although on principle we must mention that the outgoing Raptor's 6.2-liter V-8 will be missed. Otherwise, the video consists of an extended-cab Raptor prototype doing what it's supposed to: leaping off ground heaves, tiptoeing over craggy rock settings, and generally looking awesome. Enjoy:
