Pininfarina Rolls-Royce Hyperion at Pebble Beach

The Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance is an automotive charitable event, a tradition that goes on for over 50 years. Both prewar and postwar collectors come each year to Pebble Beach, California, to show off their “assets”. This year, one of the most highly anticipated concept cars at the show is going to be the Rolls-Royce Hyperion by Pininfarina. The good news is we don’t have to wait till the show kicks in, because we already have the details.

Based on the Rolls-Royce Phantom Drophead Coupe, it has a longer hood (by 400mm), has a stunning gun rack fitted in front of the cabin and a special tourbillon timepiece by famed watchmaker Girard Perregaux. Four more days and we’ll get to see it live at Pebble Beach, because these images are just a concept.

Rolls Royce Apparition: Royalty at its subtle best!

An ultra luxurious chauffeur driven limousine evoking the glamor and sophistication of chauffeur driven cars in the past that has since been lost in time, the Rolls Royce Apparition is a beautiful chariot on wheels. This vehicle is about being seen, but at the same time being invisible or an “Apparition” in the sense that you’re safely tucked away in its palatial and private interior. It is interesting to see the lady in royal robes come in this grand new fashion!

Personally I still like the bling-bling of a Ferrari and that is probably because I have grown up watching Schumacher race. This one though is pretty appealing to say the least.

Pimped Rolls Royce that looks like 350Z

DC Designs from India has pimped the Rolls Royce into um… some kind of Nissan 350Z. According to the source, the car was owned by the Sultan of Brunei’s family. More pictures after the break.

Rolls-Royce Releases First Sketches of 2010 Rolls-Royce RR4

2008 -- Rolls-Royce Motor Cars today revealed the first design sketches of its next new model. Known as RR4, the car is due to be launched in 2010 and will sit alongside the Phantom model line-up. The 2010 Rolls-Royce RR4 will be smaller than Rolls-Royce Phantom and powered by a new engine, unique to Rolls-Royce.

The design was signed off in 2007 and engineering development is now fully underway. The Goodwood manufacturing facilities are being completely reconfigured to accommodate the RR4, with extended paint, wood and leather shops as well as a second assembly line. The company will move to a two shift system next year as it gears up for full production of the new model.

Chief designer, Ian Cameron, said, “Effortless performance and standard-setting levels of comfort and efficiency, executed with the utmost care and attention, remain fundamentals of Rolls-Royce design. The RR4 has a more informal presence than the Phantom models with a greater emphasis on driving. In design terms this is expressed through its slightly smaller dimensions and more organic form, yet with powerful, purposeful proportions. It is a true and uncompromising Rolls-Royce in every sense.”

“RR4 will mark a milestone in the history of Rolls-Royce Motor Cars”, Chairman, Ian Robertson added. “The business continues to go from strength to strength and the introduction of this new model will expand the appeal of the brand. We look forward to this next chapter with anticipation and confidence.”

Further design and engineering details will be announced during the course of 2009.
