The Nissan GT-R has been called a supercar-killer for its astonishing performance in spite of what have classically been seen as huge barriers: its heavy weight, low cost and non-exotic origins. Regardless of how one comes out on the 'supercar/not supercar' debate, however, the sheer impressiveness of this four-way forced induction system from the aptly-named Power Enterprise can't be denied.
Power Enterprise's approach to modifying the Nissan GT-R follows the tried and true approach of tuning the ECU, adding sticky tires and putting a little color under the hood, but then it goes into relatively uncharted territory. The idea of turbo-supercharging a car isn't itself new - even a few production cars feature the solution. Twin-turbo and twin-supercharging, however is several orders of magnitude less common.
With a pair of Rotrex C30-94 superchargers bolted to the engine and new fuel injectors to flow the necessary fuel, Power Enterprise says the car will feature better low-end and mid-range response, plus more torque. Exactly how much more torque or horsepower is generated depends on the kit. One kit offers 560hp (418kW) as a bolt-on to a stock GT-R, another offers 600hp (448kW).
The final car will be revealed in its entirety at the Tokyo Auto Salon in January.

Nissan GT-R Tuned To The Max
Wild new GT-R gets extra bite from firm that tuned the Vip[er
IT was supposed to be the car which was untunable, but a stunning new upgrade for
the Nissan GT-R proves this is no longer the case.
Hennessey Performance – which made its name by fettling the Dodge Viper – has turned its eye to the Porsche 911 rival.
It was already a formidable proposition, and has been given a power boost from 473bhp to 700bhp, with the firm’s Godzilla kit turning up the torque to 854Nm.
The extra grunt is delivered by a pair of turbochargers, an upgraded boost controller and new intercoolers, as well as uprated exhaust components.
At the same time, a Japanese workshop has turned the received wisdom of more bhp per buck on its head. Auto Labo has produced an aerodynamic bodykit for the Toyota Prius, to boost the hybrid’s economy.
Priced at 258,000 Yen (about £1,800), the upgrade streamlines the car’s shape
by reworking the bumpers and lowering the side skirts, as well as adding a new rear apron, carbon wing and fully encased suspension.
The biggest visual change sees the rear wheels wearing futuristic-looking yet simple bolt-on covers. However, the Prius’s eco-credentials could be harmed if you also specify the wide exhaust Auto Labo offers.

Nissan GT-R Tuned by Cobra N+ with up to 620HP
German tuning firm COBRA N+ has announced the development of a new performance package for the GT-R that will be available just in time for the Japanese sportscar's European market launch in the spring of 2009. In standard form, after its recent facelift that is (see details here), the four-wheel drive GT-R comes equipped with a twin-turbo 3.8-liter V6 engine delivering 485HP. COBRA N+ is readying two performance packages for the GT-R.
Nissan GT-R Cobra N+ The first tuning stage is projected to deliver 550HP, with an increase in torque to 680 Nm. To achieve this, the twin-turbocharged engine electronics were reprogrammed, boost pressure was increased by 0.15 bar and the air intake was modified with sport air filters. Also under development is a free-flow COBRA N+ stainless-steel high-performance exhaust system with metal catalysts.
With this package the Nissan GT-R from COBRA N+ will sprint to 100 km/h (62 km/h) in less than 3.5 seconds, on its way to a top speed of some 320 km/h (199 mph). The second tuning package which is still under development, will boost output to a hefty 620 HP and peak torque to approximately 800 Nm.
Nissan GT-R Cobra N+ COBRA N+ will also offer an array of suspension, wheels and brake upgrades that promise to better the sportscar's handling. These include three-piece lightweight 21-inch alloy wheels, eight-piston brake calipers and 405-mm brake discs on the front axle as well as a coil-over suspension that features a multitude of selectable settings for ride height and damper rates.
The aerodymanic package for the GT-R includes a front apron with larger air dams, rocker panels, a rear apron with integrated diffuser, and a larger rear airfoil. For the adventurous types that don't mind being finger-pointed on the road, there's also a stripes decal kit.
For the interior COBRA N+ offers two different options, a luxury kit with specially sewn upholstery for seats and doors, made from a high-quality combination of leather and Alcantara, and a racing kit with ultra-light carbon-fiber racing seats, six-point seatbelts and roll cage.

Cobra N+ offers a 550-hp Nissan GT-R, 620-hp upgrade in the works
Cobra N+ is known for exclusively customizing and tuning Nissan automobiles, so it’s only fair that the tuning firm takes a shot at the new (now) 485-hp twin-turbo V6 Nissan GT-R. The Cobra N+ engineers are already hard work at the first tuning stage for the GT-R - which means there is more to come from Cobra N+ in the future.
The first stage is projected to deliver a total of 550-hp with a peak torque of 501 lb-ft. Engineers will be reprogramming the ECU, boosting pressure by 0.15 bar and modifying the air intake with sport air filters to achieve the upgrade. A Cobra N+ stainless-steel high-performance exhaust system with metal catalysts will also be fitted to the GT-R. 0 to 62 mph comes in 3.5 seconds like the production GT-R but top speed has been increased from 193 mph to 199 mph. Is it worth it? Probably not if you ask us. Nonetheless, Cobra N+ assures us that plans exist for a 620-hp in the near future.
Cobra N+ will also offers a sportier coil-over suspension, 21-inch light-alloy wheels, upgraded 8-piston brake calipers with 405-mm brake discs on the front axle, and a visually appealing aerodynamic body kit. Inside, buyers can opt for luxurious interior with sewn upholstery for the seats and doors made from a combination of leather and Alcantara or go for a more racing look with light carbon-fiber racing seats, six-point seat belts and a roll cage.
Cobra N+’s tuning program for the GT-R will be available for the European market in spring of 2009.

Hennessey Godzilla 700 power pack for the GT-R
Hennessey aren’t lying when they call their performance upgrade for the Nissan GT-R a Godzilla. The Godzilla 700 upgrade is indeed huge, and packed with 700 hp of power. Hennessey worked on the 2009 GT-R, upgraded the induction and exhaust systems, threw in a couple of turbochargers, upgraded the boost controller, and added new intercoolers.
All these changes lead to a massive power output of 700 hp, with the torque rating at 630 lb-ft. The power output is way above the 475 hp the stock GT-R produces. If that power is too much to handle, you could also opt for the Godzilla 600, a 600hp, 570 lb-ft package. The Godzilla 700 package comes for $18,500 ($24,500 including installation), and the 600 costs $11,500 ($14,500 installed).

Nissan GT-R Revealed
Nissan has revealed official details of its European-specification GT-R models – and it's good news for UK customers. The supercar, which arrives here next April, has benefitted from a host of improvements over US and Japanese editions.
Thanks to some electronic upgrades, the GT-R’s 3.8-litre V6 twin-turbo engine gets a 5bhp boost taking peak power to 478bhp while torque stays at 588Nm. Dunlop SP Sport 600 DSST tyres will be fitted as standard – these are the same tyres that were used by Nissan engineers during the GT-R's record-breaking lap of the Nurburgring, resulting in a time of 7 minutes 29 seconds.
Other changes include modified suspension spring rate settings, which Nissan says result in an improved ride. Another tweak is the introduction of the Gun Metal grey coloured Rays seven-spoke alloy wheels for the standard and Premium Edition GT-Rs.
There will be a Black Edition too which will be fitted with the same wheels but, unsurprisingly, in black. Lucky customers can also choose a new pearl white exterior colour called ‘Storm’.
As for the price, the GT-R will start from £56,795 on the road with an increase of £1,300 for the Premium Edition (£58,095) and another £1,300 for the Black Edition (£59,395). So far, 1200 GT-Rs have been ordered by UK customers and with demand still very strong, Nissan says that any new customer ordering now should expect delivery in mid 2010.
