Old car parts salvaged into beautiful sculptures

The pace with which new motor cars are being produced, along with no proper disintegration of old vehicles, the day is not too far when we convert the Earth into a junkyard. However, artist James Corbett has an entirely different idea, who turns old car parts into a piece of art or sculptures that can be used to enhance the décor of your living spaces. The beautiful sculptures, including small bikes, cars, animals and birds, will not just decorate your home but also help in decomposing the auto waste. Check out some of the unique sculptures after the jump.

The Tractor House: A weird abode

Considering the tendency to own bizarre stuff, products and belongings, the list of weird never draw to a close. We desire to look different from others in everything we do or hold. In line with this notion, this Tractor House clearly stands alone, tall, and proud. Confidently, the colossal wheels of this monstrous machine bear the burden of this queer lodging atop of it. The picture above itself proves the mobility and a baffling grace this dwelling has. Well, I believe it’s a modern illustration of contemporary Mideast architecture. Though I am apprehensive about living in such a house, yet being an owner of this offbeat creation is certainly a privilege. What say?

Bang & Olufsen unveils first ever sound system for open-top driving

For the very first time ever, the highly praised Bang & Olufsen Sound System has been tuned specifically for the open-top roadsters. Even with the top down, the specially tuned Sound System promises to deliver clean, crisp, natural and precise playback. Pictured above is the new A5/S5 Cabriolet that comes with a wide range of high-end options, including the acclaimed Bang & Olufsen Sound System. The Bang & Olufsen Sound System is composed of 12 custom-made loudspeakers, 10 amplifier channels and a total output power of more than 500 watts. Sound designers at B&O have fashioned an exceptional soundstage that complements the acoustic signature of the Audi A5/S5 Cabriolet perfectly. The True Image Digital Signal Processing turns 2-channel stereo signals into perfect 5.1-channel surround sound. Sound can be optimized according to the number of people in the car and their position.

The system uses a microphone integrated in the ceiling of the cockpit, and automatically adapts the volume and equalizing to changing noise conditions. The Bang & Olufsen Sound System has been designed to perfectly match the interiors of Audi A5/S5 Cabriolet. No word on pricing, but then, it’s a Bang & Olufsen creation.

Blinged Lexus SC430 Shi-crystal-like vehicle

The Lexus SC430 sports car pictured above is more a work of art than a car. The Shi-crystal-like vehicle designed by the Zheng Zhiren is festooned with more than more than 300,000 Swarovski crystals. Currently on display in Taiwan, the Lexus SC430 Shi-crystal-like vehicle is a showstopper at the show. The SC430 has long been known as ‘The Jewel of LEXUS’ and now, this Swarovski-studded version is decorated with crystal made roses and ribbon in pink. The crystals are everywhere on the car, on the front, back and the wheels. The Swarovski-studded Lexus SC430 is worth more than NT 10,000,000 (US $306,045).

Limited edition Ferrari California Flyback Chronograph

To commemorate the launch of the Ferrari California, Officine Panerai has produced a special-edition Ferrari two-counter chronograph. The new Ferrari watch will be part of the company’s “Ferrari Engineered by Officine Panerai” watch collection. The watchcase, in polished steel with brushed edges, is 45mm in diameter and boasts a cushion shaped profile. The rotor of the Ferrari California Flyback Chronograph is engraved with the Prancing Horse, while the black dial bears the Ferrari California logo to show the connection between the two luxury items. The pushpieces and the winding crown enjoy a neatly machined knurled texture. The semi-circular sweep of the dial section between 12 and 3 o’clock resembles the tachometer instrumentation of a Ferrari car.

The Ferrari California Flyback Chronograph is animated by a self-winding mechanical movement and is water-resistant to a depth of 100m. Every watch in the collection is adorned with a convex sapphire crystal, with double anti-reflective treatment. Only 400 units will be offered for sale and the expected oprice is around £8500.

DIY Aqua chopper - Enjoy the ride!

DIY Aqua chopper! Krack made this aqua chopper by attaching some barrels to his old bicycle and often rode it with pride. And why not, cuz - it is easy to use, no training or license is needed, and moreover, it will not cost you the earth. Just take it to the nearest water reservoir, and peddle to make it go. Perhaps, Krack’s the best man knowing about the safety factor, rest assured – must be fun riding this! Need a change? Then go get some barrels and enjoy the ride.

Heavenly smile – A picture is worth a thousand words!

Well, photographs are a vital tool for engaging overloaded audiences. Many things had been thought to be ‘worth ten thousand words’ well before pictures got in on the act. “Use a picture; it’s worth a thousand words“. Heavenly smile! I can go no further, care to help?

Private number plate 1 RH auctioned for quarter of a million

If you thought it was only cars that fetched high prices at auctions, think again. I am talking about the elite private number plates market. We have seen the License plate No. 1 going for $14.3 million at Abu Dhabi auction in the February of this year. This time, the esteemed number 1 RH was sold for £247,652 (approximately US$366,845) including tax and commission, at an auction of personal number plates held by the UK car registrations issuing authority, DVLA, on 21 November 2008. The plate was bought by Rob Harverson of Surrey who owns 10 private plates. The sale of 1 RH somehow put every other lot to shame, although a few of them achieved head-turning, high prices. Two of the notable sales were CHR 151S (£13,974) and the AYM 44N (£10,564).

I came with £150,000 to spend but, in the end, I was just determined to buy 1 RH and nothing was going to stop me.
This significant sale has made it clear that the affluent are willing to blow out money in their field of interest despite the global financial crisis.

Gold plated Pura Onda: Timeless piece of lowriding history

Pimping up roadsters with gold and other precious stones has become a trend these days. And Robert Espinoza is the man this time who has completely revamped his Pura Onda, the pure-bred ‘64 Chevy Impala SS. Pura Onda is a three-time World of Wheels champion, Super Chevy national champion and Grand National Rocky Mountain champion. The championship car was banned from competition by Lowrider Events in 2001, after it reached its limit of Sweepstakes wins. Now, the redone Impala SS reminds you of gold and just gold. Everything in the car, from the woofer magnets to the seat brackets, has been given the gold treatment. The roof is done with right amount of gold foil and pin striping. If you take a look under the vehicle, you will find that 90 percent of the parts are dipped in gold.

Pura Onda is an eternal piece of art and lowriding history. We have no idea about the money gone into the revamp of this head-turner, but we do know one thing, that it’s done with gold.
