Jalopnik's second annual exhibition of films and videos with automotive themes opened in Manhattan this past week. A film festival concerning cars is a great idea and not only does The Truth About Cars salute Jalopnik for establishing and continuing such an enterprise, TTAC had a small role, no pun intended, in the selection of the festival's films this year.
When I saw the notice for submissions, I forwarded the information to director Ole Schell, whose fictional short, The Sunday Drive, featuring a BMW R8, forty sportbikes, and a supermodel, racing up the Pacific Coast Highway, was reviewed here at TTAC. Ole ended up submitting some promotional work he did for the Wrightspeed electric truck conversion company, with a jet helicopter and one of Wrightspeed's turbine powered hybrids at the Bonneville salt flats. Schell's film, shown above, was selected as one of the finalists. We wish Schell and the festival organizers good luck.
