The next Ford Mustang GT500 will surely be fast, loud, and will look awesome. But despite some rumblings from our sources and previous GT500 spy shots, we haven't had solid information about the underhood plans until now.

These three new interior shots include a glimpse at the next GT500's tachometer, which sports an indicated redline of 6500 rpm. That's up from 6250 in the 2014 GT500. The tach also seems to indicate the existence of a 7000-rpm overrev region, as in the current model.

This helps validate intelligence that Ford will use an updated version of the supercharged Trinity V-8 for the hottest-to-trot Mustang, and that output isn't likely to change much. And that's just fine, as the 662 hp and 631 lb-ft of torque of the current GT500 delivers ample forward thrust—once you stop roasting the tires in first, second, and third gears—and remains head and shoulders above the Chevrolet Camaro ZL1's 580 hp and 580 lb-ft. Even Dodge, with its freshly unveiled, 600-plus-hp supercharged Challenger Hellcat, is unlikely to offer that much power from the factory.

Other visible bits include high-backed racing-style seats with fixed head restraints, a cue-ball shift knob for the standard manual transmission, and a no-frills audio system. Expect the GT500 to appear next year as a 2016 model, and for many more details to be revealed in the interim.
