With a little help from the new CLA and A-Class, Mercedes-Benz outsold Audi in November while BMW continues to hold its shrinking lead in the luxury game.
The Tri-Star moved 133,441 units over the Rings of Steel's 132,050, while the Bavarians held them both at bay with 149,663 units sold. Overall, BMW has sold 1.49 million ultimate driving machines this year, followed in second by Audi's 1.44 million with Mercedes coming in third with 1.32 million.
That said, Mercedes is gaining fast in the sales race, outpacing increases among their German luxury rivals for the fifth month in a row. The pace comes on the increased demand for compacts, such as the CLA and A-Class, as well as revamps and upgrades of their E- and S-Class models earlier this year. All three makes are targeting sales records with high demand from North American and Chinese markets providing fuel for the catalyst.
As far as BMW goes, the Bavarains saw their own boost in sales thanks to the new 3 Series GT and 4 Series, while the BMW Group as a whole moved 1.77 million MINIs, Rollers and M3s up through the end of last month.
