Lately, the words "Sentra" and "excitement" rarely appear in the same sentence. Nissan's compact used to be quite the sleeper enthusiast's ride, especially back in the early '90s. (Two-door SE-R, anyone?) These days, however, the Sentra has slowly ebbed into the background with uninteresting driving dynamics, out-of-place mini-luxury-car styling—shared with the Altima—and unholy of unholies, a CVT. There is hope yet, as Nissan proved at the 2013 L.A. auto show, where is debuting a NISMO-fettled Sentra "concept" that could be an adrenaline-soaked image-changer were it to go into production.
