| A new Advanced Safety package will be available on the 2014 Sonic and will include forward-collision alert and lane-departure warning. It's the same basic package offered on other Chevrolets, notably the Volt, Malibu, and compact Cruze, but this is the first time GM has offered such advanced-safety technologies in a subcompact model. The package will be offered on all Sonics except the base LS model. While common on higher-priced cars, this option appears to be a first in this price class. Forward-collision alert will warn the driver if they are approaching another vehicle too quickly. Lane departure will give an audible signal when the vehicle strays from a marked traffic lane. In addition, a new rearview camera is now standard on Sonic LTZ and RS models, and available on the LT. The camera is integrated with MyLink and utilizes the display screen. MyLink-equipped 2014 Sonics also include voice command for paired smartphones, Siri Eyes Free for iPhones, and available BringGo navigation.
Sonic has proven popular with buyers under 35, and adding high-tech features to the mix should make it even more popular with safety-conscious buyers of all ages. We would expect the competition to follow suit. from Car and Driver Blog http://blog.caranddriver.com | |||
