Recall Alert: 2011 Lotus Evora

Lotus is recalling 80 Evora supercharged sports cars due to a problem with the engine oil cooling system that could cause a loss of control, engine failure and fire, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The affected vehicles are equipped with a manual transmission and were manufactured between September 2010 and September 2011. The engine oil cooler hose may chafe and rupture, resulting in a loss of oil; this could cause oil to be ejected onto the road or rear wheels, which could result in a reduction of vehicle control and potential engine failure, increasing the risk of a crash or, in the presence of a heat source, a fire. Lotus has not provided an owner notification schedule, and the remedy has not yet been determined, NHTSA stated.
