Scion 10 Series Celebrates a Decade of Being Different

Since the first Scion models arrived in 2003, Toyota's U.S. subbrand has attracted as many retired seniors looking for cheap compacts as the Fast and Furious crowd it was created to represent. The funky toaster xB, once a design hit, is now about as ho-hum as Scion's overall sales, which is why we've called for Toyota to kill the brand entirely. Nobody is listening, and instead, Scion is reminding us of its "passion-driven car-making" with a slew of 10,000 "10 Series" models spread across the lineup.

All of the "10 Series" cars include silver paint, silver seatbelts, Scion badges that glow blue when the car is unlocked (actually quite cool), big light-up Scion logos on the dash (less cool) and standard 6.1-inch touch-screen audio controls.

Here's what to look for on specific models:

Scion 10 Series tC ($22,195 manual/$23,195 auto)
• 18-inch dark gray aluminum wheels
• Solar-powered illuminated shift knob (really)
• Projector-beam headlights
• New side skirts
• "Premium" stitching on steering wheel and seats

Scion 10 Series FR-S ($28,180 manual/$29,430 auto)
• 17-inch wheels
• Solar-powered illuminated shift knob (auto models only)
• Xenon headlamps
• Dual-zone automatic climate control

Scion 10 Series iQ ($18,605)
• 16-inch gray aluminum wheels
• Solar-powered illuminated shift knob
• Projector-beam headlights

Scion 10 Series xB ($19,965 manual/$20,915 auto)
• Same as the iQ

Scion 10 Series xD ($18,910 manual/$19,750 auto)
• Same as the iQ, but with "premium" seat stitching and without the projector-beam headlights
