Ram Adds Diesel to 1500 Lineup

Ram-1500
Jeep recently announced the addition of a diesel powertrain to the Grand Cherokee lineup, and the Ram brand is following with news that it'll borrow the power plant for the 1500 pickup later this year. The 2014 Ram 1500 will be the only half-ton pickup to offer a small turbodiesel engine option.

In the truck and the Grand Cherokee, the 3.0-liter EcoDiesel V-6 engine will be mated with an eight-speed automatic transmission. Ram isn't providing detailed specs, but in the Grand Cherokee, the diesel is good for 240 horsepower and 420 pounds-feet of torque.

The new diesel model will go on sale during the third quarter of 2013. No word yet on pricing or fuel economy, but check out Pickuptrucks.com for more information.
