| The Subaru BRZ and Scion FR-S won us over with their impressive handling dynamics and took Cars.com's Best of the Year award not only because of how they perform, but because of the value they offer as affordable cars with respectable EPA gas mileage ratings. The six-speed manual equipped on Cars.com's BRZ is rated at 22/30 mpg city/highway (25 mpg combined), while the six-speed automatic is higher at 25/34 mpg (28 mpg combined). We'll vigilantly track the Subaru BRZ's gas mileage throughout our yearlong test of the rear-wheel-drive sports car. Every tank of the recommend premium fuel that's gone into the BRZ is accounted for as we track mileage by fill-up calculations as well as how much each tank of go-go juice costs us. Our 25.54 mpg average at 1,600 miles is almost spot-on with the 25 mpg combined rating from the EPA. The highest recorded mileage for a tank of gas so far after seven fill-ups is 28.86 mpg. We've spent $244.80 on gasoline and traveled a maximum 302 miles on one tank. Most driving has been in temperatures below 30 degrees. from KickingTires http://blogs.cars.com/kickingtires/ | |||
