| The changes to Toyota's smallest crossover are big for 2013 and include more aggressive styling, additional standard equipment, a new transmission and a revised control layout. Missing are the optional V-6, available third row and a cargo-door-mounted spare tire; the latter is now under the cargo floor. LE, XLE and Limited trims are available — each with front- or all-wheel drive. Newly standard across the board are a backup camera and 6.1-inch touch-screen radio. Options on the base LE model include roof rails and a cargo cover. Midlevel XLEs come standard with 17-inch alloy wheels, a power moonroof, dual-zone automatic climate control and sport seats. Navigation with Toyota's Entune media system is the only option. Topline Limiteds add 18-inch wheels, a height-programmable power liftgate, imitation leather seats, an eight-way power driver's seat and heated front seats. Navigation with Entune, a premium audio system and blind spot and rear cross-path warning systems are the only options. There's plenty of recently redesigned or all-new competition in the compact crossover class, including the Honda CR-V ($23,625), Ford Escape ($23,295) and Mazda CX-5 ($21,790 - an automatic transmission is an additional $1,400.)
