Lamborghini Reveals Updated 2013 Gallardo LP570-4 Super Trofeo Race Car

2013 Lamborghini Gallardo LP570-4 Super Trofeo

Lamborghini updated its popular Gallardo sports car for 2013—and debuted the freshened model at this year's Paris auto show—which means it's time for the car's spinoff models to receive the updates, as well. Enter the hard-core LP570-4 Super Trofeo, Lamborghini's raciest Gallardo model, which gets the same mild cosmetic tweaks as the regular Gallardo, plus a few new race car–specific features.

In case it isn't clear from the photos, the Super Trofeo is the raciest baby Lambo because it is actually, uh, a race car (last year's LP570-4 Super Trofeo Stradale is its road-going cousin). The Super Trofeo is eligible to compete in Lamborghini's single-make, Blancpain-sponsored racing series of the same name. The race-car bits make it hard to tell, but look closely and you'll see that like the 2013 Gallardo, the Super Trofeo gets more angular styling elements front and rear. There's also a new adjustable rear wing that can be set to 10 different positions, and the brake ducts were re-contoured for a claimed 50-percent improvement in the front brakes' thermal performance. Otherwise, the Super Trofeo is the same beast as before, complete with a 570-hp V-10 engine, brutish good looks, and a brutishly high price tag.
