6-Series Frozen Silver Edition Some special-edition models, like BMW's recent 3-series Performance Edition Package, give buyers a good value by bundling equipment and options for less than the usual price. The 650i Frozen Silver edition is not one of those cars. Like last year's M3 Competition Edition Frozen Silver, this 650i is slathered in a matte paint from the Individual catalog. (Other Individual colors are already offered on the 6-series, but until now, Frozen Silver wasn't on the ticket.) In addition to the spray, the Frozen Silver edition pulls liberally from the standard 6-series options sheet. The Executive package adds soft-close doors, a head-up display, and ventilated seats; the M Sport package brings a body kit, a sport exhaust system, an M steering wheel, black exterior trim instead of chrome, and faux suede inside. BMW tosses in a set of 20-inch M Performance wheels, and so the 6-series Frozen Silver Edition demands 99,295 pieces of silver—er, dollars. All-wheel drive is available as an option and brings the sticker to $102,695. These prices are right on top of—or a hair higher than—non-special edition 650i models with the same equipment. But as future eBay man says, who can put a price on having one of just 55?
As the East Germany women's weightlifting champion of the BMW range, the recently refreshed X6 ain't going to get prettier with just a special paint job. The car's name is, however, more honest than the old East German olympic team about the pumped-up power within. The Individual X6 Performance Edition starts by including the normally optional Performance package to either of the available engines, swelling the six's power from 300 hp and 300 lb-ft of torque to 315 and 330; added to the V-8, the Performance pack brings output from 400 hp and 450 lb-ft to 440 and 480. These kits normally run $4400 and $3900, respectively, and in addition to the power include 20-inch wheels, dark exterior trim, an M Sports steering wheel, and the normal Sport package. This steroidal truck is trimmed in BMW Individual Pearl Silver metallic paint on the outside and inside with carbon fiber–textured leather, plus leather faux suede–covered seats with orange stitching. For good measure, BMW tosses in the Technology, Cold Weather, and Premium packages, accumulating just about every feature imaginable. Total sticker for the trucks, of which only 100 combined will be built: $81,695 for the X6 xDrive 35i with the six and $92,895 for the X6 xDrive50i with the eight. Future eBay listings were written today with BMW's announcement that it'll build 155 special-edition X6s and 6-series coupes for the U.S. market. "COLLECTOR'S'S' CAR! Only 100 of these Individual X6 Performance Editions EVER IMPORTED!" the ad will say, perhaps of a crossover with only 4000 miles on the clock and a Buy-It-Now price of half a million bucks. Both the X6 and the 6-series are meant to showcase BMW's Individual program, a catalog of very high-end paint colors and interior materials. Here's what buyers, both now and in several years, will get with each car.
