Ford Reveals Redesigned European Fiesta

The Ford Fiesta was a sales success in Europe long before it returned to the U.S. market for model-year 2011. Ahead of the 2012 Paris Motor Show later this month, the automaker released images of the redesigned global-spec Fiesta. The subcompact hatchback gets a smaller trapezoidal grille, sweeping headlights with LED daytime running lamps and redesigned taillights.  In terms of equipment, the Fiesta will get the next-generation Sync voice-activated multimedia system and MyKey, the safety system that allows parents to limit a car's top speed, stereo volume and more. It's currently available on several Ford vehicles. Also new is the Active City Stop system, which automatically stops the car if a low speed crash is unavoidable. Power will come from Ford's 1.0-liter EcoBoost three-cylinder engine. Currently, the Fiesta's sole engine in the U.S. is a 120-horsepower, 1.6-liter four-cylinder. The European-spec Fiesta hatchback will go on sale in Europe early next year; no word yet on when we'll meet the U.S.-spec version.
