2014 Subaru Forester Leaked in Japanese Brochure

Thanks to the guys over at Carscoop, we now have a pretty good look at the 2014 Subaru Forester. The fourth-gen Forester adopts a more wagon-esque profile compared to its past crossover styling, and it wears the look well. These pictures were sourced from a Japanese market brochure, so the powertrain information provided probably won't carry over to the States. With the big push now on to improve fuel efficiency to meet increasingly tougher federal fuel-economy standards, it wouldn't be a surprise for the new crossover to use a version of the 2.0-liter FA boxer-four first seen in the sexy BRZ rear-drive coupe instead of the relatively new 2.5-liter FB-series boxer-four from the current Forester. A turbocharged version of the FA engine is probably also in the cards. Although no official statement has been made, Carscoop's report reinforces our speculation. The site says the Forester will in fact increase in size in every aspect and provide more interior space. The interior shot that we saw previously in our spy shots and the one from this report suggest that the interior will be very similar to that of the new Impreza and XV Crosstrek.
