In a few months, we’ve seen a whole lot of Segway knockoffs that follow the personal transport rather closely, but add a bit of change, perhaps to lower costs. The Cool Rider is basically one big wheel with electric motors and other associated gadgetry slapped into it, and there’s a protruding rod that the rider can hold. Apparently, you get to select standing on a wheeled platform, or just wear skates while the Cool Rider pulls you with a top speed of 12mph, which will likely make you proud of having shelled $1250 on this thing. The Bugatti Veyron is quite like a milestone that many cars work to surpass, mostly without much of a success. Arash, whose upcoming car, the AF-10 will be powered by a 550hp Corvette engines is also working on a car powered by a twin-supercharged 7.2-l V8 that would throw out nearly 1200hp and purportedly beat the Veyron at its game.



The car will likely be built on a carbon fiber chassis and have the same six-speed sequential gearbox as the Zonda F. The top speed for the on-paper hypercar has been set at 250mph. This Veyron-beating car will likely go to the production lines after the Arash AF-10 (pictured), which will begin its production run next year.

The Vivace 26 luxury speedboat concept from designers Garret Miller, Heather Witkop, David Robinson, Matt Wysenski and Julian Romero is a super powerful, luxurious speedboat that would run like a dream on the waters. But that isn’t quite far-fetched, it is very much a dream literally and figuratively, with specs like fully convertible top, joystick steering, steering, OLED display screens and hull stabilizers.



The two seater speedboat will be powered by a 650hp V12 TDI diesel engine borrowed from the Audi Rio Lemans Prototype, and it will use Arneson surface drives for propulsion. The concept boat will hit a top speed of more than 80knots, at which point, it would probably be fun to see someone trying to control it with the joystick and enjoying its luxuries.

Displayed at EICMA, the XO2 urban transformer scooter from XOR Motors is a compact, folding electric scooter that can fold up to just a quarter cubic meters volume, and be tugged like a luggage cart. The electric scooter is aimed squarely at urban commuters, and will possibly take care of the last-mile problem for commuters using public transport, or just simply be a very handy, environmentally friendly transport solution.



The XO2 can recharge in just 2 hours, which seems like a very reasonable recharging time for a 100 mile range. The scooter is available in three options, the XO2-50 for normal urban commute, the X02-50 SP is a sport version meant for the track, while the XO2-125 is the top-notch 125cc scooter. Why would anyone need a track version of a folding scooter is beyond me, and there’s also something like “over 100mph” on the XOR Motors website, which sounds good, but surreal.

Another day, another iPhone controlled car

Once upon a time, iPhones controlling cars while acting as remote controls was a novelty and interesting sight to behold. It isn’t any less cool now, but with a number of iPhone hacks and apps doing the same thing, it has lost the “interest” factor by some measure. The video shows an Oldsmobile Delta being controlled by an iPhone.



Waterloo Labs were able to bring about the transition in just a few weeks, using some potentiometers, motors, Compact RIO embedded controller, and LabVIEW. A Wi-Fi system lets the iPhone communicate with the car and stay in charge.
