Audi struck at Geneva Motor show with its Audi A1 E-Tron Pure Electric Concept. The move is deemed as Audi’s effort create a new tag for its zero emission electric vehicles.

The vehicle is a third one in the e-tron concept line and two earlier versions Viz. AWD supercar and compact RWD two-seater concept has already been displayed at Frankfurt 2009 and Detroit show 2010 respectively.

The spanking-new A1 premium supermini is the smallest E-tron and has 12-kilowatt-hour lithium ion battery pack. The battery pack give power to the front mounted electric motor that generates 102hp and 240Nm torque. Along with an electric motor, there is a 254cc single-rotor Wankel engine that runs at 5,000rpm, kicking in to charge the lithium-ion batteries when they are depleted.

On the top of that, A1 e-tron’s front electric motor converts the breaking energy to the electric current and put it back to the electric system. Also, the energy can be stored in a storage unit under floor which is ideal for gravity and weight distribution. The newest unveil from Audi weighs only 1,190kg can sprint 0-100km/h in 10.2 seconds and has a top speed at 130 km/h.

In A1 e-tron, there is a single-gear transmission and power is conduit to the front wheels through the same. Additionally, with the Wankel petrol engine, the vehicle can cover up to200km and in case A1 e-tron yields a combined fuel consumption of only 1.9 lt/100 km which corresponds to CO2 emissions of 45g/km.

However, the four-passenger, two-door MCV city car has zero CO2 emissions in electric only mode and lithium ion battery pack has range of 31 miles on a fresh charge.

The other jewel presented at the Geneva is Bufori Geneva aka Bufori MKVI. Made by Cufori Car Company, the name may sound funny to many ears, however, the vehicle has ‘Geneva’ added to its name because of the intense love that Anthony Khouri, founder and owner, and his two brother George and Gerry has for the Swiss city.

Some people think of doing that others haven’t thought of and some achieve it in meanwhile. This suits no batter than a New Zealand man, Rudy Heeman of Nelson, who has designed and built a machine that can fly and could be used as boat or land vehicle.

This hovercraft took almost a decade of Rudy’s stern efforts to bring it to the present form. Made in the inventor’s garage, this hovercraft is crafted while using various parts from other vehicles like scooters, BBQs, and junked cars.

This machine works as a boat as long as it doesn’t hit 70km/h. Once it touches this landmark, it takes to the sky. This machine which is technically a boat doesn’t require a pilot license to fly it.

Other than having Rudy’s aerodynamic principles and acquired knowledge of fiberglass lamination, this machine has a 1.8 liter Subaru engine which allows for a maximum of 225 kilometers and its wings are removable.

When in flight, this machine can carry only two people or 160 kg, but in hovercraft mode the capacity increases to three people. The maximum altitude of this Flying Hovercraft is around 3 meters.

And surprisingly, some of the parts in this flying hovercraft are household items including an old gas bottle of a barbecue. On the other, Rudy has to make some special tools in order to form some of the more unusual components.

If you fancy having your own hovercraft, this machine is available on the New Zealand auction site Trade Me till 13th March, and the bid for the same has already gone beyond $26,000.

Bugatti Veyron and a cellphone to match the style

Bugatty Veyron is a name enough to give goose bumps to its lovers, but I wonder if ‘Bugatty’ car shaped cell-phone could do the same. However, Bugatty shaped cell phone caters well to the sense of those who dream to own a Bugatty Veyron but could.

Made in China, this handheld Bugatti Veyron cell phone comes with the basic features that include 2.4- inch touch-screen, FM radio and Bluetooth connectivity with the capability of handling double SIM, and runs on GSM network.

Nevertheless, keeping in mind the ‘Made in China’ tag and it offers no warranty, $200 is not only too much a price asked for the cell phone but it’s even nowhere near to the million dollar brand value that Bugatty Veyon has.

Fancy of mind finds its outlet in many forms and art is one of them. And legos has catered well to give shape to the imagination of many artists who want to make anything new, replicate or transform their love to miniature forms. Here is another one who has chiseled Legos to show his love for AC 427 Shelby Cobra.

Josh has made hard efforts to add as much details as possible while keeping the curved shape. The details include a V8 engine under the hood, a detailed interior, blue racing stripes and stickers were also applied. And by doing so, Josh has made his favorite Shelby Cobra immortal with legos. Isn’t it?

Built to commemorate Alfa Romeo’s centenary and Pininfarina’s own 80th birthday, Pininfarina’s Alfa Romeo spider has debuted in Geneva, and is now named as 2uettottanta. The name may be puzzling or eccentric for many but the vehicle is designed to delineate how the future Alfa Romeo spider will look like.

With the 2uettottanta, Pininfarina has represented an idea of a simple 2-seater which is powered by a 1750cc turbo engine positioned longitudinally, which Alfa says is an obvious reference to the “1750 Veloce” of 1968, one of the many versions derived from the famous Osso di Seppia.

Labelled as Alfa Romeo 2uettottanta concept, the 2uettottanta presents the zenith of partnership between the two Italian firms. The new vehicle is more about design and pays a warm tribute to the iconic 60s-era Duetto roadster. The concept however is not only a pure styling exercise but also a project and research.

With its red bodywork inspired by the typical Alfa Romeo paintwork, 2uettottanta concept measures 1,797mm in width, 4,212.6mm in length, and 1,280mm in height and has a 2,500mm wheelbase. And apparently Pininfarina’s Alfa Romeo roadster will replace the current spider.
