Dodge Prices 2013 Dart Sedan From $16,790; Top-Spec R/T Model From $23,290

2013 Dodge Dart

Dodge has announced pricing for the 2013 Dart sedan and revealed more details about each of the five available trim levels. The Dart starts at $16,790 in base SE spec, $18,790 for the SXT, and prices rise in increments of $1000 for the next-level-up Rallye and Limited. Buyers waiting for the sporty R/T model will have to wait a little longer—it won't be available until the fall—and pay a little more: pricing for the R/T starts at $23,290.

A six-speed manual is standard on all models. The SE, SXT, Rallye, and Limited are powered by a 160-hp, 2.0-liter four; a turbocharged, 1.4-liter four with the same hp but more torque is available on the SXT, Rallye, and Limited. The Dart R/T gets a 184-hp, 2.4-liter four when it goes on sale. Darts powered by the turbo 1.4-liter four can be had with an optional six-speed dual-clutch automatic, while naturally aspirated Darts can be ordered with a conventional six-speed auto (which we discovered will be supplied by Hyundai). Dodge hasn't revealed how much the powertrain options or any other available options, for that matter, will cost. Complete pricing below:

  • SE: $16,790 + six-speed automatic
  • SXT: $18,790 + six-speed automatic (1.4-liter turbo and six-speed dual-clutch automatic available)
  • Rallye: $19,790 + six-speed automatic (1.4-liter turbo and six-speed dual-clutch automatic available)
  • Limited: $20,790 + six-speed automatic (1.4-liter turbo and six-speed dual-clutch automatic available)
  • R/T: $23,290 + six-speed automatic with AutoStick manual function

The base SE model undercuts competitors like the $17,295 Ford Focus S sedan, the Volkswagen Jetta S at $17,415, the $17,595 Chevrolet Cruze LS, and $17,470 Hyundai Elantra GLS; however, it is slightly more expensive than the $16,745 Honda Civic DX sedan. Four-wheel disc brakes—take that, base Ford Focus and Volkswagen Jetta—10 airbags, LED taillights, projector headlights, power windows, and a six-way manual driver's seat are standard on the SE. The SXT model adds 17-inch aluminum wheels, power door locks and mirrors, keyless entry, a split-folding rear seat, sliding armrest, and air conditioning to its list of standard equipment. SXT buyers can further spec their Darts with an 8.4-inch UConnect touch screen, navigation, rear backup camera, sunroof, and upgraded sound system. The Rallye trim level includes dual exhaust outlets, projector fog lamps, a leather-wrapped steering wheel with audio controls, a trip computer, and cruise control.

Limited versions get the UConnect touch screen, a 7-inch reconfigurable gauge cluster, 10-way power driver's seat, automatic headlights, and active grille shutters standard. Nappa leather, a heated steering wheel, navigation, and rear cross-path detection are available as options. (It's worth noting that the richly appointed Limited costs nearly $2000 less than the top-shelf Ford Focus Titanim.) Finally, the Dart R/T brings 18-inch aluminum wheels, sport suspension, Nappa leather seats (heated in front), heated steering wheel, and dual-zone climate control. Keyless entry and push-button start, HID headlights, and an upgraded sound system also are available. The R/T sounds good on paper, but its price draws mighty close to that of Volkswagen's (three-door) GTI hatchback, the benchmark compact sporty car. Fuel-economy figures haven't been released yet, but we suspect they will be out soon—all versions of the Dart save for the R/T go on sale in June. The R/T is expected to land on dealership lots this fall.
